MOORESVILLE – Authorities are asking the public for help in finding one of two suspects charged with stealing more than $34,000 in jewelry from a family member’s home.

The victim and other witnesses told investigators that they suspected Thomas Lee Britt, 27, and Abbigail Shipley, 29, who live on Fieldstone Road, took the jewelry from a Shearer Road home over time, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

“Detectives then located additional evidence showing where Thomas Britt had sold the jewelry for scrap gold on eight different occasions at Race City Coin and Collectibles,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release.

Shipley was arrested June 25 and charged with felony larceny. She was given a $7,500 bond.

Britt faces eight counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense, felony larceny, felony safecracking, and felony breaking and entering of a motor vehicle.

Anyone with information about Britt’s whereabouts is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 704-878-3180 or Crime Stoppers at 704-662-1340.
