MOORESVILLE – Higher Purpose Church is raising funds for those who suffered storm damage during Hurricane Florence.

People can contribute to the Hurricane Florence Relief Fund by going to the church’s website, They should then click “online giving,” “Make a contribution” and in the other section write in “Florence.”

Walk for Life scheduled

MOORESVILLE – The Community Pregnancy Center of Lake Norman Walk for Life will be held Saturday, Sept. 29.

The theme is “Be a real life superhero.” The event check-in starts at 8:30 a.m. at Langtree Lake Norman, 150 Landings Drive. The 1.5-mile walk begins at 9 a.m.

The goal is to raise $80,000. Individuals can walk alone or join a team and still raise money even if they choose not to participate.

Funding goes to the pregnancy center to offer free services to clients.

Peninsula Baptist to hold Scorecard Conference

MOORESVILLE – Peninsula Baptist Church is holding Scorecard Conference 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 4 at the church, 687 Brawley School Road.

According to the description on the church website, the one-day event is aimed at asking church staff the following questions: “Does your church have a shared vision for making disciples from infants through senior high? Are your children's and youth ministries aligned with a foundational ministry plan for that purpose? Are your parents equipped to be the primary disciple-makers in the home?”

Scorecard will teach people how to develop a strategic ministry plan with checkpoints to help measure spiritual growth in youth as well as how to partner with parents to continue efforts at home.

The cost is $25 per person and includes lunch. A group rate of $100 for five leaders is also available.
