STATESVILLE – Iredell-Statesville Schools will have a board of education Committee of the Whole meeting at 6 p.m. Dec. 3 at the ADR Education Center. A closed session precedes the meeting at 5 p.m.
Among the agenda items are the swearing in of new and re-elected board members and the election of a new chair and vice chair. Also on the docket is a 2019-20 calendar discussion and a discussion on financial challenges for 2019-20 and the budget process.
The proposed calendar better aligns with Mitchell Community College and the newly approved Mooresville Graded School Calendar. Among the proposed changes are to have the start date be Aug. 8, to have fall break be Oct. 14-15 like MGSD, to have a two-week winter break instead of three and to have the last day of school be May 22.
The school board meeting is also slated to include an update on facilities use for high school auditoriums, a personnel report, ESSA update, proposed policy changes and a discussion on CATS meeting space.
