Iredell County Register of Deeds Ron Wyatt administers the oath to Jeff McNeely as McNeely’s wife, Cindy, holds the Bible.

Jeff McNeely was sworn in Saturday as the representative for N.C. House District 84.

McNeely stepped down from his seat on the Iredell County Board of Commissioners after being selected June 28 by the executive board of the Iredell County Republican Party to serve out the unexpired term of Rena Turner, who resigned to spend more time with her family.

Iredell-Statesville Board of Education member Bill Howell and Purple Heart Homes co-founder John Gallina also applied to fill the open seat.

Iredell County Register of Deeds and county GOP chairman Ron Wyatt administered the oath to McNeely on the House floor while his wife, Cindy, held the Bible.

N.C. Sen. Vickie Sawyer of Mooresville and Iredell County Commissioner Gene Houpe also attended.

District 84 covers all but the southeast corner of Iredell County.
