MOORESVILLE – Eileen “Beanie” Smelstoys Bird, 51, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018, in Boston, Mass.

Survivors include her husband, David Bird; parents, Bernard and Barbara Smelstoys; and a large extended family.

Services were held Friday, Nov. 16, at St. Therese Catholic Church.

Margaret Ann Campbell

MOORESVILLE – Margaret Ann Nesmith Campbell, 64, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2018.

She was born Nov. 20, 1953, in Stuttgart, Germany, to the late Harold and Margarete Braun Nesmith.

Survivors include her husband, James “Jim” Campbell; brothers, Eric Nesmith and wife, Dorinda, Jerome Nesmith and wife, Cathy; and sister-in-law, Patti Hamrick.

Services were held Saturday, Nov. 10, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel.

William Richard Bloom Jr.

MOORESVILLE – William Richard Bloom Jr., 74, died Nov. 4, 2018.

He was born Sept. 23, 1944, in Doylestown, Pa., to the late William Richard Bloom and Althea Louise Guth Bloom.  

He served in management for various furniture companies.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Alissa Lee.

Survivors include the mother of his children, Carol C. Bloom of Mooresville; sons, Adam S. Bloom and wife, Nickie, of Davidson; Ryan W. Bloom and wife, Wesla, and Ian C. Bloom and wife, Alice; sisters, Audrey Hoesch, Dr. Marjorie Angert and Coralie Capalbo; and nine grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 11 at Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Anna Eloise Bailey

MOORESVILLE – Anna Eloise Helm Bailey, 98, died Nov. 3, 2018, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

She was born Dec. 10, 1919, in Carson, La., to the late Samuel and Leona Helm.

She was a retired music educator and vocal music teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Bailey; and siblings, John L. Helm, Samuel E. Helm and Mary Helm Cyphers.

Survivors include her children, Richard Bailey Jr. and wife, Tricia, and Martha Clark and husband, Doug; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 5 at Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church, and a graveside service was Nov. 9 at Mulhearn Cemetery, Monroe, La.

Martha Jean Hamrick

MOORESVILLE – Martha Jean Threatt Hamrick, 80, died Nov. 3, 2018, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.

She was born on April 27, 1938, in Lancaster, S.C., to the late Turner and Helen Threatt.

She and her husband owned and operated WHIP Radio.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn Hamrick; children, Harrill Hamrick of Mooresville, Deanna “DeeDee” Belk and husband, Bruce, of Mooresville, and William Hamrick; brother, Curtis Threatt and wife, Ellen; sisters, Linda Sapp and husband, Ray and Cindy Threatt; two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 6 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. Burial was at Glenwood Memorial Park.

Judith Stewart

MOORESVILLE – Judith Quale Stewart, 74, died Nov. 2, 2018, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House, Huntersville.

She was born March 7, 1944, in Buffalo, N.Y., to the late Pat and Louise Salvatore Quale.

She owned and operated her own interior design business.

Survivors include her son, Eric Stewart, of Mooresville.

There will be no services held at this time.

Rev. Weldon Junior Key

MOORESVILLE – The Rev. Weldon Junior “Whick” Key, 93, died Nov. 1, 2018.

He was born Jan. 31, 1925, in Wilkes County to the late Alexander and Alice Brown Key.

He was a World War II veteran and was an ordained minister.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Chapman Key, and six brothers.

Survivors include his daughter, Nancy Pauley and husband, the Rev. James Pauley; sister, Gladine Nance; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 3 at Faith Baptist Church, Kannapolis. Burial followed at Carolina Memorial Park in Concord.
