MOORESVILLE – Linda Jo Alley Erwin, 74, died Dec. 10, 2018, at her residence.

She was born May 10, 1944, in Charlotte to the late Harley and Ollie Mae Riley Alley.

She retired from Charlotte Cold Storage.

Survivors include her husband, Fred Robert Erwin; daughter, Angela Yates and husband, Thomas Henry; sister, Sherry Riley; and brother, Ted Alley and wife, Carol.

Services were held Dec. 12 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home and Dec. 13.

Mary Virginia Blackwelder

MOORESVILLE – Virginia “Ginny” Blackwelder, 92, died Dec. 6, 2018, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House-Huntersville.

She was born July 17, 1926, in Mooresville, to the late James and Edith Correll Blackwelder.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Doyt, Donald, James, Harold and Robert Blackwelder; and sisters, Margaret Blackwelder and Caroline Campbell.

Survivors include her sisters, Marilyn Hinds and Joan Kennerly and husband, Toby; and brothers, Thomas “Tommy” Blackwelder and James “Jimmy” Blackwelder.

Services were held Dec. 12 at Prospect Presbyterian Church.

Jessie Karen Fresh

MOORESVILLE – Jessie “Karen” Johnston Fresh, 75, died Dec. 4, 2018, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

She was born Sept. 7, 1943, in National City, Calif., to the late Marvin and Alma Norman Johnston.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Johnston.

Survivors include her son, Brandon Fresh; sisters, Janyth Carter, Val Jean Marshall and Susan Teel and husband, Keith Simmons; two grandchildren; their mother, SheriFresh/Hannah; and father of her son, Loren Fresh and wife, Colleen.

No services will be held at this time.

MOORESVILLE – Richard “Rick” Alfred Stutts, 64, died Dec. 3, 2018, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.

He was born on April 27, 1954, in Mooresville to Mildred Pitts Stutts and the late Walter Alfred Stutts.

Survivors include his sons, Christopher Stutts and wife, Angela, and Kevin Stutts; sister, Kathy Bradshaw and husband, Tim; stepdaughter, Tiffani Barber and husband, Curtis; fiancée, TJ Moore; and three granddaughters.

Services were held Dec. 6 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel.

MOORESVILLE – Mary Ann Gwilt, died Dec. 3, 2018, at the Gordon Hospice House.

She was born April 7, 1955, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Glen and Helen (Parent) Clemens.

She worked for major design firms and started and owned Gwilt Architecture.

Survivors include her husband, Richard; daughter, Kelsey Gibson and husband, Matt; son, Matthew and fiancée, Tori; and siblings, Rosie and husband, Vern, Barbara and husband, Jack, Carol and husband, Denny, Lucy and husband, Doug, and Lynn.

Services were held Saturday, Dec. 15, at Williamson United Methodist Church.

Thomas Joseph Hofrichter

MOORESVILLE – Thomas Joseph Hofrichter, 86, died Dec. 1, 2018, at his home.

He was born Jan. 10, 1932, in Beadling, Pa., to the late Thomas Anthony Hofrichter and Rose Smith Hofrichter.

He retired as a heavy equipment operator in coal mining.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret and husband, Paul Shine, Sally and husband, Dan Quinn, Delores and husband, Alex McKinin, and Thelma Brune; and brother, Jack and wife, Irmgard Hofrichter.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Kristoff Hofrichter; children, Thomas Hofrichter, Amy Williamson and Timothy Hofrichter and wife, Nancy; sisters, Therese Delphus and husband, Robert, Jean Graeser and husband, Ralph, and Joan Hurst and husband, Cecil; brothers, Fred Hofrichter and wife, Beverly, and Bill Hofrichter and wife, Bernadette; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
