Mooresville Graded School District was recently ranked eighth best in the state. 

The Mooresville Graded School District will release students early Friday because of expected traffic related to the procession for Mooresville Police Officer Jordan Sheldon following his funeral.

Mooresville High School will dismiss at 11 a.m. Elementary, middle and intermediate school students will be released at noon, MGSD announced Wednesday.

The district said it has been informed by Iredell County Emergency Services that the procession from Charlotte will include up 2,500 emergency vehicles and be as much as 15 miles long.

Traffic in Mooresville is expected to be affected between 1 and 4 p.m. The precise route had not been determined as of Wednesday afternoon.

“We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause our parents,” MGSD said in a press release. “However, we know you will understand considering the circumstances.
