Joan Margaret Stepski Dayton

MOORESVILLE – Joan Margaret Stepski Dayton, 86, died March 27, 2018, at her residence.

She was born Oct. 4, 1931, in Newburg, N.Y., to the late Stefan and Ida Conklin Stepski.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. Dayton, and daughter, Debbie Dayton.

Survivors include her children, Peggy Cilluffo and husband, Anthony, June Lott and Billy Dayton and wife, Candy; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

No services will be held at this time.

Gary White

MOORESVILLE – Gary “Wayne” White, 61, died March 27, 2018.

He was born Feb. 1, 1957, in Iredell County to the late William and Ilene Brown White.

Survivors include his brother, Jerry White of Mooresville; and sister, Shelby Morrison and husband, Brian.

Services were held March 31 at Olivet Baptist Church in Catawba.

Margaret Mary McGhean Culver

MOORESVILLE – Margaret Mary McGhean Culver, 69, died March 26, 2018, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

She was born Jan. 27, 1949, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Howard and Ellen Gallagher McGhean.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanne Reilly.

Survivors include her children, Sean Culver and wife, Karen, and Christine Leal and husband, Roland; sister, Patricia Pettorsson; brother, Howard McGhean; and four grandchildren.

Services were held April 3 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.

Dorothy Cline McNeely

MOORESVILLE – Dorothy “Dot” Cline McNeely, 85, died March 23, 2018, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

She was born Feb. 17, 1933, in Rowan County to the late Leonard Jackson Cline and Edith Bostian Cline.

She worked as a cosmetician.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Stephen “D.S.” McNeely; sons, Lance Corporal Timothy David McNeely and Jimmy Goodnight; son-in-law, Thomas Alexander Brawley; and sister, Lillian Cline Griffith.

Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Brawley; son, Joe Goodnight Jr.; stepdaughters, Gail Lacey and Nancy Effinger; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held March 27 in the chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.

Joyce Ann Franco

MOORESVILLE – Joyce Ann Warrell Franco, 83, died March 15, 2018.

She was born Nov. 27, 1934, in Roodhouse, Ill., to the late George and Gladys (Anthony) Warrell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Franco.

Survivors include her sons, Richard and wife, Jo Ann, and George Paul and wife, Tara; siblings, Betty L. Kassahn, Georgia Lee Nash and David “Joe” Warrell; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services were held March 20 be at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home and March 25 in Indiana.

In lieu of memorials, the family asks for random act of kindness that will share joy to both the recipient and the giver.

Bryan Robert Smith

MOORESVILLE – Bryan Robert Smith, 24, died March 14, 2018.

He was born on Aug. 5, 1993, in Rochester, N.Y., to Robert and Margaret Smith.

He worked for the Psychology Department at University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Garnet J. Wood.

Survivors include his parents; brother, Alexander Smith; paternal grandparents, Richard and Joyce Smith; and maternal grandmother, Donna Kauffman.

Services will be held April 9 at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church.

MOORESVILLE – Ellis Osborne Kelly, 92, died March 13, 2018, at her residence.

She was born May 2, 1925, in Huntersville to the late William Orr and Elvetta Arnette Osborne.

She was the owner-operator of Merle Norman Cosmetics.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C. L. “Bubba” Kelly; son, Arthur Kelly; sisters, Lucile, Margaret, Madelene, Willie Mae, Lena and Bertha; and brother, Billy Ray.

Survivors include her son, William Kelly and wife, Glenda; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
