Bernard Abner Bieber

MOORESVILLE – Bernard Abner Bieber, 77, died April 6, 2019, at Gordon Hospice House, Statesville.

He was born Dec. 14, 1941, in Oley, Pa., to the late Abner Rapp Bieber and Helen Marie Golubics Bieber.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Lynn Gieringer Bieber.

Survivors include his son, Jason Bieber and wife, Jill; sisters, Rebecca Hartman, Doris Haas and Molly Lutz; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.

No services are planned. He will be buried in Fleetwood, Pa.

Francis Brannon McKnight

MOORESVILLE – Francis “Brannon” McKnight, 82, died April 5, 2019, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

He was born Feb. 3, 1937, in Mooresville to the late John Mack McKnight and Rose Howard McKnight.

He served as chaplain of American Legion Post 66

He was preceded in death by brothers, Kingsley, Merrill McKnight and an infant brother.

Survivors include his wife, Linda L. McKnight; son, Mitchell McKnight; brother, J. Quinton McKnight; and sister, Mary Margaret Overcash McKnight.

Services were held April 9 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home and April 10 at Mooresville Church of Christ.

MOORESVILLE – John Ramsey, 96, died April 4, 2019.

He was born Sept. 1, 1922.

William Ernest Smith

MOORESVILLE – William "Bill" Ernest Smith, 82, died April 3, 2019, at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte.

He was born Feb. 19, 1937, in Rowan County to the late Raymond Allen Smith and Hattie Mae Hobbs Smith.

He was a retired construction worker.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Graham Smith; sons, Terry L. Smith and Eubert Dale Smith; brothers, Glen and Larry Smith; and great-granddaughter, Skylar Brooke Call.

Survivors include his children, Timothy E. Smith and wife, Faith, of Mooresville, Cynthia S. Johnson and husband, Danny; sister, Peggy Stafford of Mooresville; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held April 6 at The Altar Church of Lake Norman.

Betty Joan Broome

MOORESVILLE – Betty Joan Coone Broome, 75, died April 1, 2019, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 24, 1943, in Iredell County to the late William and Dorothy Wright Coone.

She worked for Reeves.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Wayne and Jerry Coone.

Survivors include her husband, Johnny V. Broome; children, Johnny Broome Jr. and wife, Lori, and Lynn Broome; sisters, Brenda Marking and husband, Jim, Judy Guy and Jean McIntrye; brother, William Coone and wife, Card; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Services were held April 3 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.

MOORESVILLE – Jack Arno Wettengel, 75, died March 27, 2019.

He was born Sept. 12, 1943.

Survivors include his wife, Maryann; daughters, Elise Fornasier and Melissa Sansbury; and his grandchildren.

Services were held March 31 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home.
