Jackson McManus

MOORESVILLE – Jackson L. McManus, 82, died April 5, 2018.

He was born April 13, 1935, in York County, S.C., to the late John and Sarah McManus.

He was a S.C. National Guard veteran and designed and fabricated electrical controls and product manufacturing lines for furniture, textile, and construction industries worldwide, as well as for the U.S. Defense Dept. He was awarded several patents for industrial machinery and processes.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Bigham.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Keith McManus; four children, Charles McManus, Pam Rea and husband, Don, Beverly Fain and husband, Ronnie, and Buddy McManus and wife, Deborah Gilbert; sister Betty Cotton and husband, Bill; and five grandchildren.

Services were held April 8 at Asbury United Methodist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Asbury U.M.C.

Paul Francis Stahlschmidt

TROUTMAN – Paul Francis Stahlschmidt, 74, died April 10, 2018.

He was born May 17, 1943, to the late Oliver and Frieda (Staggemeier) Stahlschmidt.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon “Cookie” (Whitlock); three sons, Paul A. and wife, Caroline, Steven and wife, Stacy, and Thomas and wife, Ashley; a brother, David and wife, Ann; three brothers-in-law, John and wife, Donna, Jim and wife, Betty, and Mike and wife, Susie; and four grandchildren.

Services were held April 13 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Denver. A celebration of life will be held in St. Charles, Mo., at a later date.

Peggy Strickland Smart Little

MOORESVILLE – Peggy Strickland Smart Little, 83, died Sunday, April 8, 2018.

She was born Jan. 11, 1935, in Goldsboro to the late David Wright Strickland and Canary Langston Strickland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Francis Little.

Survivors include her children, Melia Richardson and husband, Jeff, Susan S. Poole and husband, Trent, Jennie S. Dixon and husband, David, Jacque S. Jett and husband, John, and Kirk A. Smart and wife, Bonnie; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A private burial was held April 10.
