Nancy "Carole" Welch Smith

MOORESVILLE – Nancy "Carole" Welch Smith, 88, died Monday, July 16, 2018, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 29, 1929, in Charlotte to the late Claudia Welch Bost.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Heyward "Norman" Smith; sons, Steven Shawn Smith and Philip Lynn Smith; and daughter, Linda Carole Smith.

Survivors include her sons, Heyward "Woody" Smith Jr. and David Smith; and two grandchildren.

Services were held July 20 at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte.

Louis Izzo

MOORESVILLE – Louis Izzo, 75, died Monday, July 16, 2018, at Carillon Assisted Living in Mooresville.

He was born April 10, 1943, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Isadore and Evelyn Ciallella Izzo.

Izzo was owner and operator of Modern Food in the Bronx, ran a play house and organized the fair in the Bronx.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Deridre Izzo.

Survivors include wife, Barbara Cifarelli Izzo; children, Stacy McCabe and James Izzo; sister, Linda Dajostino; brother, James Izzo; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be held privately.

MOORESVILLE – Rita Ann Faiver, 75, died Saturday, July 14, 2018.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Faiver; daughters, Debbie Cornett and husband, Darryl, and Sheri Faiver of Mooresville; and two grandchildren.

Edith Wilson Johnston

MOORESVILLE – Edith Wilson Johnston, 90, died Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Brian Center in Mooresville.

She was born April 7, 1928, in Mecklenburg County to the late Arthur and Mary Haigler Wilson.

Johnston retired from Belk department store.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Renar Johnston; sisters, Louise McKay, Pauline Cagle, Kathleen Keziah, Macie Hall and Elsie Wilson; and brothers, James Wilson, Bob Wilson, Earl Wilson and Pete Wilson.

Survivors include her sister, Betty Wilson.

Charlotte Kommer Ferrero

DAVIDSON – Charlotte Kommer Ferrero, 89, died Friday, July 13, 2018, at The Pines at Davidson.

She was born on July 4, 1929, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to the late James Kommer and Loulou Kommer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony R. Ferrero.

Survivors include her sons, Richard Ferrero and wife, Lisa, James Ferrero and Michael Ferrero and wife, Jane; and eight grandchildren.

The family will hold a private interment ceremony on Sept. 1 at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray, Pa.

Ruth Sheets

TERRELL – Ruth Jeanette "Jean" Morris Sheets, 89, died Thursday, July 12, 2018.

She was born Feb. 11, 1929, in Rowan County to the late James Hobart and Maggie Poole Morris.

Sheets worked for F.W. Woodworth in Salisbury then later retired from Catawba County Schools.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Owen Sheets; brothers, Johnnie J. Morris and Robert G. Morris; and sisters, Esther Morris Poteat, Ruby Morris Cashion and Margaret Morris Hillard.

Survivors include her daughters, Twyla Sheets Philyaw and husband, Anthony, and Carol Sheets Graham and husband, Stan of Mooresville; brother, James W. Morris; and six grandchildren.

Serves were held July 15 at Rehobeth United Methodist Church in Terrell. She was buried at Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury.

Edna Mae Morrow Roach

MOORESVILLE – Edna Mae Morrow Parker Roach, 90, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at Gordon Hospice House.

She was born March 30, 1928, in Mooresville to the late James Price Morrow and Ethel Lipe Morrow.

Roach worked for the Town of Mooresville in the business office.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lloyd Parker and Art Roach; sisters, Sandra Freeze and Pattie Hambright; and brother, Larry Morrow.

Survivors include her children, Terri Brannon and husband, Roy, Janet Robinson and husband, David, and Douglas Parker and wife, Leigh; stepchildren, Tim and Gary Roach; sister-in-law, Peggy Troutman; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held July 15 at Central United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Glenwood Memorial Park.
