Richard Wayne Barefoot

MOORESVILLE – Richard Wayne Barefoot, 78, died March 13, 2018, at Catawba Regional Hospice House in Newton.

He was born Nov. 4, 1939, in Charlotte to the late Jocie Crogan Barefoot and Florence Porter Barefoot.

He was owner of Barefoot Archery.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe, Foch, Jack, Benny and David Barefoot.

Survivors include his wife, Millie Bolick Barefoot; son, Richard W. Barefoot Jr. and wife, Debbie; step-grandchildren, Joel and Julia Townsend; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Services were held March 17 at Grace Covenant Church.

Joseph Dominic Margarucci Jr. 

MOORESVILLE – Joseph Dominic Margarucci Jr., 90, died Monday, March 12, 2018.

A prayer service was held March 17 in the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with full military honors following the service.

Frances Brackett Thompson

MOORESVILLE – Frances Brackett Thompson, 74, died March 12, 2018, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 28, 1943, in Rutherfordton to the late Rev. W.T. “Bill” Brackett and Eula Smith Brackett.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Howard Thompson; daughter, Billie Faye Thompson; sisters, Joyce B. Morrow and Eva Bivens; and brother, Henry Brackett.

Survivors include her children, Cindy McDaniel Taylor and Joel Thompson; sister, Phyllis Ward; stepchildren, Tommy Thompson, Robert “PeeWee” Thompson and Terry Ann Thompson; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Services were held March 15 at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home chapel.

June Catherine Considine Stoelting

MOORESVILLE – June Catherine Considine Stoelting, 91, died Monday, March 12, 2018.

She was born on Dec. 30, 1926 in Chicago to the late Lester and Edna Considine.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Stoelting; and sisters, Marie Evans and Dorothy Holland.

Survivors include her sons, John Stoelting and Tom Stoelting; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held March 15 at St. Therese Catholic Church.

John Lewis Starkey

MOORESVILLE – John “Jack” Lewis Starkey, 80, died Sunday, March 11, 2018.

He was born July 31, 1937, in Roanoke, Va., and raised by the late John and Frances Looney.

He was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Marcia Helow Starkey; children, Sharon Starkey and friend, Gary Webb, John L. Starkey III and wife, Kayoko, Laura Hanby and husband, John, Susan Stephens and husband, Brian; sisters, Shirley Foutz and Martha Lorenz; brother, David Looney; and seven grandchildren.

Services were held at St. Therese Catholic Church March 17.

Peggy Robinson Griffeth

MOORESVILLE – Peggy Robinson Griffeth, 84, died March 11, 2018, Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 1, 1933, in Aragon, Ga., to the late Thomas Robinson and Mamie Lewis Robinson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Carlton Griffeth; son, Eddie Griffeth; and grandson, Griff Lyerly.

Survivors include her daughters, Margaret Lyerly and husband, Chris Lyerly, Palmie Freeze and husband, James Freeze, and Barbara McCall; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held March 15 at Glenwood Memorial Park Cemetery.

Frances Sherrill Moore

MOORESVILLE – Frances Sherrill Moore, 91, died March 11, 2018, at the Brian Center of Mooresville.

She was born May 5, 1926, in Mooresville to the late Taylor Vinson and Fannie Brawley Sherrill. She taught school for 35 years and was principal at Shepherd School for a year.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Adolphus Moore; brothers, Horace Bell “Pete” Sherrill and Don Grey Sherrill; and a sister, Margaret Sherrill Allison.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and David Edmonds; and sister-in-law, Natalyn Archer Sherrill.

Services were held March 16 at Vanderburg United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to Vanderburg United Methodist Church in Mooresville, and Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County in Statesville.
