MOUNT MOURNE – Sage Alexander beat the end-of-quarter buzzer twice as the Community School of Davidson boys basketball team beat Pine Lake Prep 57-50 Friday, Jan. 25.
As the clock was winding down before halftime, Alexander was closely guarded but still pulled up from 3 to make the score 32-20 at the break. Then, at the end of the third quarter, the senior guard hit a layup just before the clock hit zero as part of his team-high 16-points.
Pine Lake (11-6 overall, 5-3 PAC 7 1A), down double-digits for much of the game, made a run midway through the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to 47-42. Pride senior wing DeMarcus Johnson had a game-high 22 points, which included a drunk in traffic from the baseline with just under 3 minutes remaining.
The Spartans swept the season series, winning by one point in December.
Meelad Doroodchi was the only other Pride player in double-figures, scoring 12 points.
