Interim Mooresville Police Chief Ron Campurciani congratulates new Officer Estefania Manzano.

Estefania Manzano was sworn in Monday as the newest officer with the Mooresville Police Department.

She was born in Colombia, South America, raised in North Carolina and graduated from Statesville High School. She went on to work for a local law firm as a legal assistant and earned a real estate license. However, she said she has always had an interest in law enforcement.

In March, Manzano completed basic law enforcement

training at Mitchell Community College. She briefly worked with the Iredell County Sheriff's Office until being selected to join the Mooresville force, “which was her top choice,” Mayor Miles Atkins said before administering the oath to Manzano at a town board meeting.
