MOORESVILLE – An alleged accomplice in an attempt to steal merchandise from Kohl’s rammed his vehicle into two Mooresville Police Department cruisers in the parking lot outside the store, authorities say.
Mooresville officers responded late Wednesday afternoon to a reported shoplifting in progress at the store on West Plaza Drive (N.C. 150). Arriving officers saw a woman carrying merchandise run from the store toward a waiting vehicle with a man in the driver’s seat, according to a press release.
One officer pulled his cruiser in front of the vehicle and another behind it. The driver drove forward and struck one police vehicle, then backward and hit the other, MPD said.
The driver, Tyrone L. Faulkner of Charlotte, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit felony larceny, resisting or obstructing a law enforcement officer, careless and reckless driving, and assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer. He was given a $50,000 secured bond.
Lameeka D. Calloway, also of Charlotte, is charged with felony larceny and conspiracy to commit felony larceny. She was given a $10,000 secured bond.
