Vickie Sawyer

New state Sen. Vickie Sawyer stans with her husband, Brett, and daughters, Sydney and Braedy.

Vickie Sawyer of Mooresville was sworn in Jan. 9 to the District 34 seat in the N.C. Senate. She was elected in November to represent the redrawn district, which covers all of Iredell and Yadkin counties. But Sawyer was no newcomer to the chamber. She was chosen in July by Republican Party committee members in Iredell, Gaston and Lincoln counties to finish the term of Sen. David Curtis when he resigned from his District 44 seat.
