Graydon Morrow and the Lake Norman lacrosse team went undefeated in Conference 13.

MOORESVILLE – Lake Norman continued its domination of Conference 13 lacrosse by closing the regular season with an 18-3 defeat of Pine Lake Prep April 18.

The Wildcats (14-2, 6-0 C13) had goals from 11 players, with junior Tyler Haines scoring a game-high three on four shots. Sophomore JD Shellenberger was the top assist man with three, totaling five points on the night.

Defensively, sophomore Luke Crone recorded seven groundballs, while Lucas Drum, Anthony Vaccaro and Ryan Swarts had three apiece. Three Wildcats split time as goalies, each yielding one Pride goal.

All Pine Lake goals came from underclassmen: freshman Duncan MacFayden, sophomore Alex James and junior Zach Morlidge. The Pride (5-7, 1-6) close the regular season Friday, April 26, at home against Queen’s Grant.

Lake Norman bats hot against JMR in spring break tourney

KANNAPOLIS – The Lake Norman defeated Jay M. Robinson 9-4 April 23 in the Intimidators Classic spring break tournament.

Five Wildcats recorded multiple hits, with junior Carson Arnold leading the way with a 3-for-4 day. Senior Dylan Arment went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and classmate Vance Anderson was 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Junior left-hander Cameron Arnold went six innings, allowing four earned runs on five Robinson hits. He struck out nine before senior Dawson Slater closed.

Lake Norman’s next opponent was Carson of China Grove April 24.

Pride clinch top spot in PAC 7

By defeating Queen’s Grant Tuesday, April 23, the Pine Lake Prep boys tennis team remained undefeated and clinched the top spot in the PAC 7 1A.

The Pride (12-0, 9-0 PAC 7) have only lost five sets all year, and will receive a first-round bye in the 1A state tournament, which begins May 1. This is the second consecutive year Pine Lake has won the conference outright and unbeaten.

Pine Lake soccer beats Raptors

MOUNT HOLLY – The Pine Lake Prep girls soccer team used a big first half to beat Mountain Island Charter 5-3 Tuesday, April 23.

The Pride (6-7, 6-3 PAC 7 1A) scored three goals in the first half, holding off the Raptors (7-2, 9-5-1) in the second. Senior Meaghan Reidy had a team-high two goals, as junior Lydia Sparks, sophomore Chloe Mullen and freshman Isabella Massimini had one goal each.

The Pride close the regular season by visiting Bradford Prep and hosting MICS.
