James Cash

TROUTMAN – James “Jim” Cash, 76, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017.

He was born Oct. 31, 1941, in Iredell County to the late Marvin and Leona Darr Cash.

He worked for SHA Mechanical Inc.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Sue Cash; and brother, Bill Cash.

Survivors include his daughters, Sherry Cash of Mooresville, and Lisa Davis (Melanie); brothers, Tony Cash and wife, Joyce, Steve Cash and wife, Kathy,  and David Cash and wife, Lynn; a granddaughter; and two great-granddaughters.

Services were held Nov. 22 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel.

Mark Allen Fouts

MOORESVILLE – Mark Allen Fouts, 60, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017.

He was born Feb. 27, 1957, in Pontiac, Ill., to the late Paul and Deanne Rose Fouts.

He worked for Ingersoll Rand.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Mayhew Fouts; children, Mark Allen Fouts Jr., and Michelle Leigh Fouts Carroll and husband, Allen; sister, Linda Josey; brother, Paul Fouts Jr.; and a grandson.

Services were held Nov. 25 at First Wesleyan Church.

Lonnie Farrell Garner

MOORESVILLE – Lonnie Farrell Garner, 68, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at Gordon Hospice House.

He was born Oct. 17, 1949, in Mayes County, Okla., to Lona Mae Utley Garner and the late Jimmie Lee Garner. 

He is a U.S. National Guard and U.S. Army veteran and worked in maintenance at the Pines in Davidson.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Ann Penman Garner; sister, Linda Chapman; children, Stephanie Rhodes, Janel Garner and friend, Andrea, and Jimmie Garner; stepchildren, Tammy Erwin and husband, Scott, Carl Bell and Lionel Bell; and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation was held Nov. 21. There will be no other service.

Vera Verble Shumaker

MOORESVILLE – Vera Verble Shumaker, 97, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at Genesis Elder Care.

She was born March 11, 1920, in Mooresville to the late Eddie and May Wallace Verble. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit McKnight Shumaker, and a son, Bobby Shumaker.

Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Hager and husband, Thomas, and Terrie Alexander; sons, Randy Shumaker and Michael Shumaker and wife, Barbara; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 19 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.

Anthony Joseph Darr 

MOORESVILLE – Anthony “Tony” Joseph Darr, 67, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at the Brian Center.

He was born June 27, 1950, in Long Island, N.Y., to the late Charles and Ana Saliceti Darr.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Darr.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Andersen Darr; children, Laura Boland and husband, John, Chuck Darr, and A.J. Darr and wife, Diana; and four grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 18 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel.

Nellie Sweet Roberson

MOORESVILLE – Nellie Sweet Roberson, 88, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at Gordon Hospice House.

She was born Jan. 28, 1929, in Alexander County to the late Jessie Lee and Ollie Teague Sweet.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Joe and Kenny Sherrill.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Witherspoon and husband, Rick; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were private.

Luis Mongerrate Sanchez

MOORESVILLE – Luis Mongerrate Sanchez, 89 died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at Gordon Hospice House.

He was born June 13, 1928 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, to the late Luis and Fidela Ruiz Sanchez. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Migdalia Robaina Sanchez; stepson, Evelio Martinez and wife, Sylvia; and three grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 20 at Salisbury National Cemetery.
