2022 Primary Roundup: Mooresville/South Iredell


U.S. House of Representatives, District 10

Five candidates are in the Republican primary field: Jeff Gregory, Michael Magnotta, Patrick McHenry, Gary Robinson and Richard Speer. Two Democrats, Michael Felder and Pam Genant, are also in a primary.

N.C Senate, District 37

Iredell County Board of Commissioners

Ten candidates are in the Republican primary, with three advancing to November (candidate profiles begin on Page 15) to face two Democrats in the race for three board seats.

 

County positions

With no Democrats filed, the Republican primaries in the Clerk of Court race between Jim Mixon and Barry Tilley, and the Register of Deeds race between Renee Holland and Maureen Purcell, will determine who holds those offices for the next four years.

 

Board of Education

There is a Republican primary between Mooresville residents Anita Kurn and Lisa Meier for the District 7 seat on the county school board.

Mooresville Ward 3

Tommy DeWeese, Kevin Kasel and James “Toodles” Ritchie are on the primary ballot, with the two top advancing to November’s race to see who will replace Barbara Whittington as Ward 3’s town board representative.
