NEWTON – Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) students Stephanie Huitron, Gideon Hart and Maddie Barrymore were honored at the May 2 Catawba County Board of Commissioners meeting for their creation of a four-piece artwork series representing the Catawba County Park System.

Among the parks featured was the future 606-acre Mountain Creek Park in Sherrills Ford.

The artwork was created through a project partnership between Catawba County and the Advertising + Graphic Design Program at CVCC. Huiton, Hart and Barrymore created the Mountain Creek artwork.

Mountain Creek will feature a 18-mile hiking-and-biking trail network and a variety of other outdoor amenities on the shores of Lake Norman. It is expected to open June 18, the county announced Wednesday.
