Comfort-food cafe closes doors in Huntersville

For more than a decade, patio dining was as much a part of Café 100’s appeal as the Crab Cake Benedict, omelets, wraps and paninis. /Lee Sullivan

HUNTERSVILLE – With short notice and little fanfare, the operators of Cafe 100 – a cozy community treasure in the heart of downtown Huntersville at 100 Huntersville-Concord Road – used social media sites to announce they were closing the restaurant after one final Sunday brunch experience on Jan. 23.

The restaurant, a popular breakfast, lunch and brunch spot for more than a decade – and in the house-like setting that was the original home of the Toast restaurant that is now the Davidson-based Famous Toastery chain of franchises – featured an assortment of specialties, like crab cake benedicts, breakfast burritos and assorted wraps along with a casual and well-stocked bar.

The owner of the property, longtime Huntersville resident Charles Guignard, said he hopes to secure a similar restaurant operation for the location.

“I’ve had five contacts so far about the property,” Guignard said, “and four of them are restaurant people.”
