Jewel Marrie

DENVER – Jewel Marrie, 88, of Denver, died June 22, 2022.

She was born Oct. 14, 1933, in Denver to Francis and Viola Whitlow Sherrill.

She retired from Arthur Andersen accounting firm.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, A.W. “Chuck” Auten Jr.; daughter, Robin Auten Eaker; brothers, Bob, Jim and Don Sherrill; and sister, Sara Sherrill Morris.

Survivors include her daughter, Cathye Auten; sister, Anne Eudy; grandson, Randy Montgomery; granddaughter, Abigail Eaker; great-granddaughter, Sabrina Montgomery; great-grandson, Trey Montgomery and wife, Tasha; great-great grandson, Drezon McLaughlin, great-great-granddaughters, Skye and Kynnedi Montgomery; and many nieces and nephews.

Services are being planned for a later date.

Jo Edwards

SHERRILLS FORD – Jo Cooksey Edwards, 78, of Sherrills Ford died June 19, 2022.

She was born Sept. 2, 1943, Winston-Salem, to the late Hollis Doyle Cooksey Jr. and Margaret Swaim Cooksey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Kevin Neal Edwards and Brian Scott Edwards; brother Richard “Dick” Hal Cooksey; and sister, Phyllis Ann Stillie.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin “Tommy” Thomas Edwards; daughters, Stacie Edwards Mitchell and husband, David, and Laura Edwards Jones and husband, Thomas; grandchildren, Evan, Cooper, Jackson and Luke Mitchell, and Abigail, Kaitlin and Alexander Jones; and brother, Terry Cooksey.

There will be no services.

Carolyn Johnson Richey

DENVER – Carolyn Johnson Richey, 82, died June 11, 2022.

She was born Sept. 25, 1939, to the late Joseph Samuel and Frances “Nana” Johnson.

She worked for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and volunteered at First Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Mike Richey; children, Mickey Richey and partner, Sam, Lorrette Hyde, Laura Podraza and husband, Erik, Lisa Padgett and husband, Clay, Joe Johnson and wife, Dawn, and Chris Johnson and wife, Misty; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial celebration took place June 25 at First Christian Church in Charlotte.
