George Scott Richardson

DENVER – George Scott Richardson, 70, of Denver died Nov. 6, 2022.

He was born Aug. 2, 1952, in Knoxville, Tenn., to the late James Richardson and Jean Sharpe Richardson.

He retired as vice president of Distribution and Logistics of Newell/Rubbermaid.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Barton Richardson.

There will be no services.

Gabrielle Christine Dyal 

DENVER – Gabrielle “Gabby” Christine Dyal, 30, of Denver died Nov. 4, 2022.

She was born on June 27, 1992, in Cooperstown, N.Y., to Denine and Charles Dyal Jr.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Joseph Dyal; grandmother, Betty Hults; grandmother, Mary Dyal; aunt, Jennifer Dotson; uncle, George Hults Jr.; fiancé, Brandon Decker; children, Jaeden Decker and Sadie Decker; nephew, Tristen Joseph Dyal; niece, Gracie Dotson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Visitation and service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 13, from 2-4 p.m. at The Good Samaritan Funeral Home; 3362 N.C. 16 Business, Denver.

There will be a celebration of life in Hickory at Startown First Baptist Church at a later date. Donate to the Humane Society in memory of Gabby Dyal.

David Lee Boyer

DENVER – David Lee Boyer, 74, of Denver died Nov. 3, 2022. 

He was born Oct. 6, 1948, in Gaston County to the late Lee Marvin Boyer and Hazel Mae Hughes. 

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Jeanette Boyer; daughter, Pamela Ann Smith; son, Bobby Boyer; brother, Sam Boyer; brother-in-law, Roy Turner; and grandchildren, Troy and wife, Hope, and Zachary.

A service was held Nov. 8 at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

George Wilbur Boyd Jr.

DENVER – George W. Boyd Jr., 83, of Denver died Oct. 29, 2022. 

He was born on Dec. 28, 1938, in Kannapolis to the late George W. Boyd and Pearline Watts Boyd.

He retired from Yellow Freight System, Inc. 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Neal Boyd.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Huss Boyd; sons, George W. Boyd III and wife, Ann, and Jeff Boyd and wife, Angie; daughter, Sara B. Schrum; grandchildren, Scott Boyd and wife, Rhenee, Faith B. Rimmer and husband, Justin, Christen B. Parker and husband, Ryan, Rachel Schrum and Nathan Schrum; great-grandchildren, R.J., Brooklyn and Addisynn Parker, and Ava and Uriah Rimmer; and many loved nephews and nieces.

A service was held Nov. 1 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

Johnny Cannon

MOUNT HOLLY – Johnny Cannon, 76, of Mount Holly died Oct. 25, 2022.

He was born Jan. 9, 1946, in Cleveland County to the late John Melvin Cannon and Emma Proctor Cannon. 

He was retired from Duke Energy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sally Strickland Cannon, and nephew, Chad Stewart.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Shuford Cannon; children, Aaron Cannon, Tracy Roberts and Ron Robinson and his wife, Kelly; grandchildren, Josh Cannon, Cooper Roberts, Walker and Landon Robinson; sisters, Reba Adams and Ann Stewart; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A service will be held 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov.13, at Mt. Zion Church in Alexis.
