Theresa Jean Cordery

DENVER – Theresa Jean Bland Cordery, 63, of Denver, died March 11, 2023.

She was born Jan. 4, 1960, in Wheeling, W. Va., to the late Charles A. Bland and Mary Jean Smith Bland. 

She worked as a manager.

She is survived by her husband, Donald J. Cordery; sons, Clifton Francis and Clay Francis; sisters, Dana Boyles and Elizabeth Bland; granddaughter, Brielle Francis; step-grandson, Beau S. Singletary; step-daughter-in-law, Tonya Singletary and husband, Ben; and niece, Heather Eubanks and husband, Mike.

A service will be held at a later date at Bauknecht & Altmeyer Funeral Home in Shadyside, Ohio.

David William Smith 

IRON STATION – David William Smith, 84, of Iron Station, died March 12, 2023.

He was born July 20, 1938, to the late Kiser David and Bonnie Smith.  

He retired from Carolina Mills and was also a veteran of the U.S. Air National Guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beattie Scism Smith; and son, Kenneth William Smith.  

He is survived by his daughter, Bobbie Jane Morrison and husband, Ronnie Elmore; brother, Fred Junior Smith; sisters, Sadie Sue Stamey, Judy Joann Scronce and husband, Daniel, and Barbara Ingle and husband, Billy; grandchildren, Nathan Morrison and wife, Rachel, Shawn Morrison and Joshua Beal; and great-grandson, Ayson Lee Morrison.

A service was held March 16 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel.

Mary Everhart Ledford

IRON STATION – Mary Everhart Ledford, 85, of Iron Station, died March 10, 2023.

She was born Oct. 17, 1937, in Davidson County, to the late Clandon J. Everhart and Irene Forbus Everhart.  

She worked in textiles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Ellis Ledford.  

She is survived by her sons, Ray Anthony “Andy” Ledford and wife, Robin, and Jeffery Norris Ledford and wife, Renae; brothers, Jack Everhart, Leroy Everhart, Larry Everhart and Eugene Everhart; sisters, Lovetta Briles and Linda Odum; grandchildren, Brandon Ledford and wife, Amanda, Jeremy Ledford and wife, Courtney, Monica Harris and Jessica Barrett and husband, Brian; and great-grandchildren, Brianna, Raylee, Cambrie, Kellan, Adelynn, Ella, Emmie and Ryleigh.

A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 17, in Hillcrest Gardens in Mt. Holly. The family will greet friends following the graveside service.

Denise Renee Bertle

DENVER – Denise Renee Bertle, 42, of Denver, died March 6, 2023.

She was born Jan. 11, 1981, in Massillon, Ohio, to Amy Bertle and Brad Bertle. 

She was preceded in death by her grandfather Robert Bertle and grandparents Robert and Martha Eckhardt.

In addition to her parents, she is also survived by her sister, Kimberly and husband, Dustin Wilson; nieces, Savannah and Salem Wilson; grandmother, Linda Bertle; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A private service will be held in Ohio.

Daniel Howard Harper

IRON STATION – Daniel Howard “Danny” Harper, 69, of Iron Station, died March 6, 2023.

He was born Dec. 17, 1953, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Ronald Lee Harper and Katherine Hodges Harper.

He served in the United States Marines.

He is survived by his sons, Joshua Nathaniel Harper and wife, Michelle, and Daniel Jason Harper; brothers, R. James Harper and wife, Heather, and Christopher W. Harper; sisters, Margaret H. Kluttz and husband, Hal, and Georgia K. Harper; grandchildren, Christian, Mykela and Caroline Harper; and very special friend, Lynn Austraw Harper.  

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Landers officiating.

Norman Gene Byrd

IRON STATION – Norman Gene Byrd, 82, of Iron Station, died March 3, 2023.

He was born May 29, 1940, in Lincoln County to the late Orie Eva Byrd.

He owned Byrd’s Body Shop/Byrd’s Cleaning Service.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by sons, Ricky Gene Byrd and Ralph James Byrd, and grandson, Patrick Byrd.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Dellinger Byrd; sons, Alan Byrd and wife, Lenora, Jeff Byrd and Kevin Byrd and wife, Beth; grandchildren, Alicia, Brandon, Jessica, Nikki, Elliot, Katelyn and Heather; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A service was held March 7 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel.

Donna Jean Brandon

DENVER – Donna Jean St. Clair Brandon, 73, of Denver, died Feb. 20, 2023.

She was born Jan. 20, 1950, in Roanoke, Va., to the late Becky Roberts.   She retired from Belk Store Services where she worked as a mailroom associate.

In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by grandchildren, Jenna Brandon and Kayla Brandon.    

She is survived by her husband, Steven Brandon; children, Steven Brandon Jr., Jason Brandon and wife, Melissa, and Casey Brandon; and grandchildren, Justin Brandon, and Katelyn Brandon.

A service was held Feb. 25, at Warlick Funeral Home.
