The first round of the N.C. High School Association basketball playoffs took place Tuesday, with impressive showing by the North Meck boys and girls, as well as Lincoln Charter. The 30-seed Hopewell boys held off a late surge from 3-seed Ardrey Kell for a 51-49 win, avenging North Meck’s loss in the 4A West finals a year ago.

After a thrilling run to win the Greater Metro 4 championship, the Lake Norman High boys fell to a powerful Chambers team. Meanwhile Mooresville took care of business on the road, dispatching Kernersville Glenn by double-digits.

  1. Chambers gets Porter Ridge at home next.

    • Doug Coats says:

Thanks, Robert. Since we don’t official cover Chambers, I didn’t include their next opponent.
As for the seedings, those things usually get sorted out between the lines. 🙂

  2. Not sure how Alexander Central got a higher seeding than North Meck, but we’ll see tomorrow night if it is correct. nooORTH! 😉
