Holiday services announced




With Christmas this weekend, local churches are putting together services and events to celebrate the season. Here are some of the scheduled events in the area.

Assurance United Methodist Church

Assurance United Methodist Church has several upcoming holiday events in several locations.

The Annual Live Nativity will take place 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, at Assurance Northlake Campus, 9700 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road, Huntersville.

The Christmas Eve Pancake Breakfast will take place Saturday, Dec. 24, at the Connections Campus, 6729 Old Mt. Holly Road, Charlotte, followed by a Christmas Eve Family Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. at the same location.

Christmas Eve candlelight worship services will take place Christmas Day at 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Northlake Campus, 9700 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road, Huntersville.

A Traditional Christmas Eve Candlelight Service is at 7 p.m. and 11 a.m. at the Northlake Campus.

 

Grace Covenant Church

The Grace Covenant Cornelius and East Lincoln campuses will host Christmas Eve services at 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 24.

Deaf interpretation will be available at the Cornelius 3 p.m. service. No children’s ministry will be available, but parents with crying children have a room they can go in.

All campuses will have a Christmas Day service at 10 a.m.

The Cornelius campus is located at 17301 Statesville Road.

 

Journey Church

Journey Church will hold two family Christmas Eve candlelight services at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24. Childcare will be provided for children younger than 2 only.

The Christmas Day Service will take place at 10 a.m. on Dec. 25. Childcare is available for children younger than 5.

The facility is located at 15711 Brookway Drive, Huntersville.

 

Lake Forest Church

The Huntersville campus at 8519 Gilead Road will have services at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23; and 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 4:45 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24.

Childcare will be available for babies through age 4 for all services except for the Christmas Eve 6:30 p.m. service.

The Davidson location has services at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24, which will be held in partnership with Gethsemane Baptist Church. The nursery is open for infants through 3 years old.

Lake Forest Church campuses will not have a Christmas Day service, though people are invited to attend Gethsemane Baptist Church at 10 a.m. at 565 Jetton St., Davidson.

 

Ramah Presbyterian Church

Ramah Presbyterian Church will have a Christmas Eve Service of Lessons and Carols, including many Christmas Hymns with Scripture readings at 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24.

A Christmas Day service, which will include Holy Communion is 11 a.m. at Ramah Presbyterian Church located at 14401 Ramah Church Road, Huntersville.

 

St. Alban’s Episcopal Church

St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 301 Caldwell Lane, Davidson, will offer several service opportunities during the holidays.

The Christmas Eve services takes place at 4 p.m., 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24. The church will only hold one service on Christmas Day at 10:30 a.m.

A New Year’s Day service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1.

 

Saint Mark Catholic Church

Saint Mark Catholic Church is offering the Mass six times this Christmas, including an off-site service and one offered in Spanish.

Christmas Eve at Saint Mark Catholic Church is celebrated at 4 p.m., 7 p.m. and Midnight Mass. Prior to the Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, the choir will present Lessons and Carols at 11 pm.

A 4:30 p.m. Christmas Eve service will take place at Bradley Middle School, 13345 Beatties Ford Road, Huntersville.

The Christmas Day service will be held at 9 a.m. at Saint Mark Catholic Church. The 11 a.m. service will be offered in Spanish.   

Saint Mark will also be offering a Latin Mass in the Extraordinary Form on Sunday, at 7 p.m. Jan. 8. The Carolina Catholic Chorale and Orchestra will be at Saint Mark for this special orchestral Mass. They will perform “Mass in A Major” by Antonia Caldara under the direction of Thomas Savoy.

All are welcome. Saint Mark is located at 14740 Stumptown Road, Huntersville.

 

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will have two Christmas Eve services and one on Christmas Day.

Services are at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, at Sunset Eucharist with nursery provided and 10:30 p.m. Silent Night Eucharist with no nursery. The Sunday, Dec. 25, service is at 9:30 a.m. The Circle the Altar Nativity Eucharist offers no nursery.

The church is located at 8600 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road, Huntersville.

 

St. Phillip Missionary Baptist

St. Phillip Missionary Baptist Church, at 524 Dellwood Drive, Huntersville, will host a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service Saturday, Dec. 24, at 6 p.m.

In the dimmed sanctuary, attendees will hear the beloved Christmas Carols and the Good News proclaimed with the flickering candles that reminding people of the Birth of Jesus.

The event is free and open to the public.

 

St. Jude’s Anglican Mission

St. Jude’s Anglican Mission will hold Christmas Eve services at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24. Christmas Day services will be at 9:15 a.m. Holy Eucharist will be celebrated at both services.

All services are held at the Huntersville ARP Church, 200 N. Old Statesville Road, Huntersville.
