Lincoln County man arrested for child sexual assault

LINCOLNTON – A Lincoln County man has been charged in connection with child sexual assaults that occurred last year.

On Nov. 2, 2022, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding alleged sexual assaults of a child. The juvenile victim, who was known to the suspect, disclosed the sexual assaults at the Lincoln County Child Advocacy Center on Nov. 10 during a forensic interview.

On Jan. 18, Charles Edward Ramsey Jr., of Lincolnton, was interviewed, during which the sheriff’s office said he admitted to the allegations. The next day, the 23-year-old was charged and arrested on three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child.

Ramsey was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $45,000 secured bond. He had a first appearance hearing in Lincoln County District Court on Friday.
