MOORESVILLE – Students at Chesterbrook Academy Preschool in Mooresville recently donated 995 pounds of food to FeedNC, the Mooresville nonprofit whose mission is to help those in need to find access to healthy food.

For two weeks, students held a food drive to collect nonperishable items for the organization. After the collection, students helped organize the donations for delivery to FeedNC.

Students also collected more than 250 pounds of essential care items, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, deodorant, razors, gloves and socks for underprivileged families served by FeedNC, which in addition to providing meals also offers fellowship and encouragement to those in need through a variety of programs.

The Chesterbrook Academy project was designed to help students learn the importance of helping others in the community, especially during the holiday season.

“We are so appreciative of the support The Food Lion gives the Mission,” said Susan Wolff, the Mission’s development director, “not only in weekly donations of goods from the local stores, but also the monetary donation they have given us to supplement what we are able to offer our clients,”

The Christian Mission provides resources, skills, education and services to individuals and families to alleviate suffering and become independent.

The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation, established in 2001, provides support to agencies serving families facing food insecurity across its 10-state footprint. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $16 million in grants.
