Kathy Burdette

MOORESVILLE – Kathy Cashion Burdette, 67, of Mooresville died December 17, 2022.

She was born Jan. 13, 1955, in Mooresville, to the late Henry Burnes Cashion and Edna Pope Cashion.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Rayvon Cashion; and grandson, Stephen “Stevie Bear” Burdette.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen Burdette; children, Matthew Stone, Joshua Burdette and wife, Mallory, Jennifer Dunnivan and Michael Burdette and wife, Haley; sisters, Carolyn Floyd and Doris Sherrill and husband, Jimmy; brother, Eugene Cashion and wife, Peggy; grandchildren, Kherrighan, Marryn, MaKayla, Krista, Jonathan, Liam, Kayla and Journey; great-grandchildren, Jaiden and Braxton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service was held Dec. 22 at Fairview United Methodist Church.

Denise Desylvia Ervin

MOORESVILLE – Denise Dishman Ervin, 68, of Mooresville Dec. 16, 2022.

She was born June 10, 1954, in Iredell County, to the late Kenneth Eugene and Laura Goodson Dishman.

She was a homemaker, owner/operator of Ervin’s Western Store and also worked as a waitress at Sam’s Pier

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Renaye Jarrett and Patricia McDaniel.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Ervin; children, Heather Ireland and husband, David, Chad Kiser and wife, Jenny, and Dustin Ervin; brother, Ron Dishman; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A service was held Dec. 27 at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.

Amberly Harris

MOORESVILLE – Amberly Nicole Harris, 32, of Independence, Ky., formerly of Mooresville, died Dec.15, 2022.

She was born Sept. 7, 1990, in Rowan County to Tammy Horne and the late Darris Harris.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Daryl and Brenda London, Barry Ervin and Jimmy Harris; brother, Wesley Scott Harris; and uncle, Rodney London.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her stepfather, Gerald Horne; children, JoJo and Hunter Jones, and Makayla Strand; grandmother, Elizabeth Harris; sisters, Jessica Mann and husband, Mike, and Alyssa Harris; brother, Brandon Harris and girlfriend, Ash Sanders; aunts, Cindy London, Tracey Harris and Glenda Lejeune; uncle, Jeff Harris and wife, Elaine; nieces, Keira, Skyler, Kinzy and Riley Mann; nephew, Zandyn Mann; and 15 cousins.

A service was held Dec. 23 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. 



Joshua Eric Booth

TROUTMAN – Joshua “Josh” Eric Booth, 34, of Statesville, formerly of Troutman died Dec.15, 2022.

He was born April 24, 1988, in Mooresville to Jill Elizabeth Booth.

He worked in landscaping and construction.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, James Ronald Booth and Norman Goelzer; and uncle, James Ronald Booth Jr.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brother, Garrett Deweese and wife, Elizabeth; grandmother, Edna Goelzer; aunt, Kelly Fox and husband, Dan; nieces and nephews, Khloe, Wade and Maelyn; cousins, Jen Booth, Jamie Booth, Kaitlyn Fox and Justin Fox; and several loving extended family members.

A service was held Dec. 20 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the family at P.O. Box 118, Scotts, NC 28699, c/o Jill Booth, to help offset funeral expenses.



Carl Summeral Basinger 

MOORESVILLE – Carl Summeral Basinger, 94, of Mooresville Dec. 13, 2022.

He was born Jan. 31, 1928, to the late William and Ollie Basinger.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in the reserves. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Basinger; son, Steve Basinger; brothers, William and Paul Basinger; and sisters, Mary Ruth Sloop and Nettie Thompson.

Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Helena Basinger; grandsons, Adam and Jacob Basinger; step-grand-daughters, Jennifer Pullen and Rachel Naughton; and nephew, George William Basinger Jr. and his wife, Deborah. 

A service will be held Saturday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m., at the Mooresville First Baptist Church with Senior Pastor Dr. Jerry Cloninger officiating. Visitation for family and friends will follow the service.

Donald Wilson McClain

MOORESVILLE – Donald “Don” Wilson McClain, 78, died Dec. 12, 2022.

He was born March 13, 1944, in Westminster, S.C., to the late Haskell and Flora Faye McClain.

He was employed at Duke Energy in various supervisory positions, and was a Shepherd’s volunteer firefighter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lutricia McClain Bramlett.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Reed McClain; sons, Paul McClain and wife, Mary, and David McClain and wife, Lisa; granddaughters, Ashley, Kristin, Lydia and Julia McClain; and brother, Larry McClain and wife, Jane.

A private graveside service was held Dec. 26. 



Kyle Lee Beaver

MOORESVILLE – Kyle Lee Beaver, 81, of Mooresville Dec. 12, 2022.

He was born May 8, 1941, in Landis, to the late Carl and Evelyn Cook Beaver. 

He worked in accounting at Burlington Industries, retired from Hoechst Celanese and then worked at the ABC Store.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Mottley Beaver; daughters, Angela Mayhew and husband, Paul, and Leigh Parker and husband, Douglas; brother, Ricky Beaver and wife, Amy; grandson, Jakob Parker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service was held Dec. 19 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
