MOORESVILLE – Parks Sloan Cornelius, 95, of Mooresville died Feb. 19, 2022.

He was born Jan. 15, 1927, in Mooresville to the late Addie and Sell Cornelius.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He worked as a security guard at Draymore Manufacturing Company.

Services were held Feb. 26 at Fair View United Methodist Church.

Billie Sue McCaskill Ray

MOORESVILLE – Billie Sue McCaskill Ray, 90, of Mooresville died Feb. 15, 2022.

She was born Jan. 27, 1932, in Thomasville to the late Charlie E. and Nemer G. McCaskill. 

She had a career in education and then opened The Children’s Playhouse preschool.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Ray, and siblings Louise Nichols, Wannie Porter, Charles McCaskill, Jewel Gray McCaskill and Verlin Riordan.

She is survived by her children Charlene Hastings and husband, Randell, Robin Avent and husband, Randy, Jerry Ray and wife, Debbie, and Jill Davis and husband, Kenny; and four grandchildren.

A private celebration will be held.

Kelly Eugene Parker

MOORESVILLE – Kelly Eugene Parker, 69, of Mooresville died Feb. 15, 2022.

He was born Dec. 22, 1952, in Mooresville to the late Grady Eugene and Reba Karriker Parker.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Parker.

He served as the Senior Pastor of the Lake Norman Foursquare Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila Swink Parker; children, Anne Parker Cole, Jonathan Parker and wife, Shannon, Jesse Parker and wife, Robin, Rachel Parker Vandenbark and husband, Cody, and Ashley Hyman and wife, Vanessa;  brother, Mitchell Parker and wife, Nicky; niece, Jada, and husband, Aaron; eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 20 at Grace Covenant Church.

Kent Edward Lee

MOORESVILLE – Kent Edward Lee, 67, of Mooresville died Feb. 14, 2022.

He was born March 11, 1954, in Mooresville to the late Robert Edward Lee and Zelia Bost Lee.

He was employed with Mooresville Ice Cream.

He is survived by his brother, Ricky Calvin Lee, and wife, Christine Ann Ward; and many extended family members.

Services were held Feb. 19 at Glenwood Memorial Park in Mooresville.

John George Berberich Jr.

MOORESVILLE – John George Berberich Jr., 67, of Mooresville died Feb. 14, 2022.

He was born March 5, 1954, in Doylestown, Penn., to the late John G. and Mary Clark Berberich.

He had a career as a mechanic.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Berberich.

He is survived by his children, Ben Berberich, Mollie Berberich, and Adam Berberich; and sisters, Evelyn Berberich Costello and Eleanor Berberich.

Winifred Catherine Tobias

MOORESVILLE – Winifred Catherine “Winnie” Tobias, of Mooresville, and formerly of Howard Beach, N.Y., died Feb. 12, 2022. 

She was born Feb. 2, 1937, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Charles and Agnes Tobin Kelley.

She worked in banking and at the New York Public Library.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alphons; brother, William; and sister, Jane.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Tobias and husband, Jason Josephs, and Carol Ottaviano and husband, Phillip; and six grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 22 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Ozone Park, N.Y.

Sue Hollowell Perry

MOORESVILLE – Sue Hollowell Perry, 88, of Mooresville died Feb. 12, 2022.

She was born July 22, 1933, in Ryland to the late Baker Miles and Ella Mae Hollowell.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her baby boy Perry; and sisters Ruth Rae Taylor, Nellie Baker Frank and Lois Hope West.

She is survived by her children, Gregory Ted Perry and wife, Gloria and Pamela Sue Perry Hicks and husband, Eddie; sisters, Betty Jean Gazurek, Rose Marie Winslow, and Annie Faye Bunch and husband, Malcolm; brother, Baker M. Hollowell, and wife, Judy; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 17 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in Hampton, Va.

Patricia Davis

MOORESVILLE – Patricia Sue Nolan Davis, 72, of Mooresville died Feb. 11, 2022.

She was born Oct.10, 1949, in Wayne County, Mich., to the late George and Shirley Nolan.

She was a retired dental hygienist.

She is survived by her husband, Lester “Larry” Tripp Davis; children, Neil Traye and wife, Myra, and Abby Richardson and husband, David; sister, Barb Nolan; and four grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Jean Brannon Mills

MOORESVILLE – Dorothy Jean Brannon Mills, 88, of Mooresville died Feb. 11, 2022. 

She was born on Nov. 27, 1933, to the late Maude Mae McClure Brannon and Goley Robert Brannon.

She was a secretary at and then worked as a real estate broker.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Mills and siblings, Carmel Collins, Garnell Gabriel, Frank Brannon, Alliene Clodfelter, and Max Brannon.

She is survived by her children, Paula Mills Little and husband, Gray, Leslie Mills Bruner and husband, Jerry, Jennifer Mills Barnes and her husband, Eric, and Paul Grey Mills Jr. and wife, Jennifer; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 15 at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
