Donald Ray Bailey

MOORESVILLE – Donald Ray Bailey, 60, of Mooresville, died Feb.13, 2023.

He was born Feb.  6, 1963, to the late Marshall Bailey and Betty Joyce Turner Bailey. 

He was self-employed as a mechanic, worked at Schaffer, and also worked at Barnhart.

In addition to his parents, he was also proceeded in death by his brother, George Allen Bailey. 

Survivors include his wife, Monica Bailey; daughter, Melissa Rachelle Caudle; sons, Donald Anthony Bailey and Dontavious Rayquan Bailey; stepchildren, Kim Ann Ruiz and husband, Robert, and Sean Dwayne Boyd; sister, Mary and husband, Wendell Bailey; brothers, Marshall and wife, Sandra Turner, Craig Bailey, Tracy Bailey and Jeffrey Bailey; three  grandchildren, Ashanti Caudle, Demari Bailey and James Caudle II; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A service was held Feb. 22 at W.H. Bryant, A.E. Grier and Sons Funeral Home.

Margaret Ann Ricks

MOORESVILLE – Margaret Ann Ricks, 68, of Mooresville, died Feb. 7, 2023.

She was born Dec. 6, 1954, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to the late William Ricks and Mary Ann Alcock Ricks.

She was one of the first female computer engineers.

She is survived by her partner, Vicki Vileno; daughter,

Falon Ricks and her companion, Charlie Jenkins; grandson, Joey Jenkins; sisters, Karen Nardis, Nancy DeStefano and Jean Pettyjohn; brother, Ron Ricks; and numerous, nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at a later date.

Judith Ann Adams

MOORESVILLE – Judith “Judy” Craven Adams, 75, of Mooresville, died Feb. 7, 2023.

She was born Jan. 18, 1948, to the late June and Edith Bridgeman Craven.

She was a former beautician and administrative secretary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence “Larry” Adams; and brothers, Ken Craven and Jimmy Craven.

She is survived by her son, David Moorefield and wife, Jane Ann; and grandchildren, Jill and Adam Moorefield.

A private service will be held by the family.

Jean Carol Brannen

MOORESVILLE – Jean Carol Brannen, 73, of Mooresville, died Feb. 6, 2023.

She was born April 20, 1949, in Camden, S.C., to the late Wilbur and Lillie Mae Laughridge Brannen.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Brannen.

She is survived by her daughter, JoAnna Brooks and husband, Chip; brothers, James Brannen and wife, Cyndi, and Michael Brannen and wife, Doris; sister-in-law, Paula Brannen; grandson, Josh Noorbergen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service was held Feb. 9 at Glenwood Memorial Park.

Rebecca Louise Burke

MOORESVILLE – Rebecca  “Becky” Hall Burke, 94, of Mooresville,  died Feb.5, 2023.

She was born July 25, 1928, in Charlotte, to the late Ada Mildred Hall and Phillip Robert Hall.

After she retired from Metric Construction, she delivered The Charlotte Observer to patients at what was then Charlotte Memorial Hospital.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Phillip Robert Hall Jr., and her husband, Lee Albert Burke.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Maranich, and husband, Sonny, Angela Kaiser, and Marianne Webb, and husband, Greg; son, Lee Albert Burke Jr., and wife, Dina; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A service was held Feb. 18 at Trinity Baptist Church.

Gene Thomas Kane

TROUTMAN – Gene Thomas Kane, 53, of Troutman, died Feb. 4, 2023.

He was born May 17, 1969, in Boonton, N.J., to David Kane and the late Julia Veninsak Kane.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his aunt, Shirley Conover and husband, Bob; uncle, Wayne Kane and wife, Diane; cousins, Lisa, Kristen, Kimberly and Andrew; and several close friends.

Ulysses Aaron Young

MOORESVILLE – Ulysses Aaron Young, 34, of Mooresville, died Feb. 4, 2023.

He was born Feb.15, 1988, in Harris, N.Y., to George William Young and Luz Minerva Elliott. 

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Andrea Rodriguez Young; son, Leon Ruben Young; daughter, Liliana Grace Andrade; sisters, Roxanne Hosein and Ariana May Young; brothers, Kenneth Anthony Hosein, George William Young and Jason Ahmed Hosein; and stepfather, Ronald Alan Elliot.

He was a licensed airframe and power plant technician and was employed by American Airlines. 

A service was held Feb. 10 at Christ Community Church.

Donald Carey Matheson

MOORESVILLE – Donald “Carey” Matheson, 53, of Mooresville, died Feb.1, 2023.

He was born Nov. 12, 1969, in Eden.

He was a General Contractor and owner of Under 1 Roof Construction.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Jeanette Matheson, Betty Matheson, David Albright, and Stacey and Edna Trull; and father-in-law, Rev. Lynn Ogburn.

Survivors include his wife, Christina Ogburn Matheson; children, Salem Olivia, Jax Riley, Creed Baron, Sawyer Levi and London Claire; father, Don and wife, Pat Matheson; mother, Deborah and husband, Jeff White; sister, Andrea and husband, Chris Coe, brother-in-law, Matthew and wife, Zayda Ogburn; mother-in-law, Kay C. Ogburn; nieces, Macie Coe, Maddy Ogburn and Maya Ogburn; and nephew, Chandler Coe.

A service will be held at First Baptist Church of Mooresville, 150 S. Church St., Mooresville on Saturday, March 25 at 2 p.m.

John Peavy Meacham

MOORESVILLE – John Peavy Meacham, 71, of Mooresville, died Jan. 15, 2023.

He was born Oct. 22, 1951, in Hickory, to the late Hudson Peavy Meacham and Anna Rankin Meacham.

He was a Certified Public Accountant. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nita Rankin. He is survived by his sons, Brian Duncan Meacham and James Rankin Meacham, and their spouses, Melissa and Sarah; and grandchildren, Emma, Claire, Piper, Olivia and Luke; and brothers Daniel Weedon Meacham and David Hudson Meacham. 

A service was held Feb. 3 at Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
