Harry John Lykes Jr.

MOORESVILLE – Harry John Lykes Jr., 92, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, at his home.

He was born May 28, 1926, in Perth Amboy, N.J., to the late Harry J. Lykes and Ada M. DeVoe Lykes.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn LeBrocq Lykes.

He worked for Rahway Hospital and served in the U.S. Navy

Survivors include his children, Linda DiTrolio and husband, Steven, of Mooresville, and Richard H. Lykes Sr. and wife, Judy; brother, Melvin Lykes and wife, Helen; sister, Margaret Cerach; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 7 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with burial Nov. 8 at the Salisbury National Cemetery with full military honors.

Brian Lee Mann

MOORESVILLE – Brian Lee Mann, 69, died Oct. 27, 2018, at his home.

He was born March 3, 1949, in Mooresville to the late Robert Lee Mann and Agnes Brannon Mann.

He was an engineer in the nuclear industry and was an original member of the Mooresville band, the Nova’s Nine.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Mann.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Gray Mann; children, Michelle “Shelly” Mann, Jaime Mann and Brandon Mann and wife, Anna; and five grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 4 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.

Mary Katherine Buss

MOORESVILLE – Mary Katherine Eckert Buss, 64, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018, at her residence.

She was born on Feb. 14, 1954, in Buffalo, N.Y., to the late Richard and Jeanette Eckert.

She was co-founder of Best Container Service.

She was preceded in death by her son, Nathan Buss.

Survivors include her husband, Douglas A. Buss; daughters, Heather Davis and James, and Amy Cannon and husband, Brian; sister, Lucille Rydzynski; and three grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 3 at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home chapel.

MOORESVILLE – Jackie Pagels Jendras, 65, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018.

Kenneth Elmer Cloaninger

MOORESVILLE – Kenneth Elmer Cloaninger, 74, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018.

He was born Nov. 24, 1943, in Mooresville to the late Lewis and Leslie Shoemaker Cloaninger.

Cloaninger served in the U.S. Air Force and worked as a N.C. State Highway Patrol telecommunicator. He also worked for the Cornelius Police Department before retiring from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Grady Cloaninger.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Harrison Cloaninger; children, David L. Cloaninger and Kimberly C. Jones and husband, Duncan; and three grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 27 at Triplett United Methodist Church.

Purin Jose Caraballo

MOORESVILLE – Purin J. “Joe” Caraballo, 70, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018.

He was born Sept. 19, 1948, in Puerto Rico, to the late Purin and Maria Martinez Caraballo.

Caraballo served in the U.S. Army and then retired from the Army National Guard. He retired from KPMG.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Caraballo; daughter, Amelia Courson; sons, Alejandro Caraballo and Marcial P. Caraballo; stepchildren, Felix Cuesta, James Cuesta and Crystal Clemmer; eight grandchildren; and eight step-grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 2 at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home chapel.

Lilia León

MOORESVILLE – Lilia León, 93, died at Genesis Home Care Oct. 12, 2018.

She was born Jan. 25, 1925, in Cienfuegos, Cuba, to the late José del Cueto Herranz and Engracia Dalmau Perdomo.

She was a Spanish teacher for adults and youth.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David Ramón León.

Survivors include her son, Ramón Jose León and wife, Arminee Bowler; three grandchildren and their mother, Stephanie León; daughter, Maria León Wilson and husband, Rick Wilson; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 30 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, 16901 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville.
