William Masten Ogburn

MOORESVILLE – William “Bill” Masten Ogburn, 79, died Sept. 30, 2021, at Novant Health Presbyterian in Charlotte.

He was born July 2, 1942, in Winston-Salem to the late Billy and Leo Jones Ogburn.

He retired as vice president of service and marketing at Duke Power and served on the Town of Mooresville Planning Board.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Slate Ogburn; children, Emily Givens and husband, Peter, Anna Wexler and husband, Seth, William Ogburn Jr. and wife, Samantha, John Ogburn and wife, Lindsay, and Elizabeth Floyd and husband, Richard; brother, David Ogburn and wife, Vicki; and eight grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 4 at First Baptist Church with burial at Glenwood Memorial Park.

Devin Joseph Schrad

MOORESVILLE – Devin Joseph Schrad, 50, died Sept. 28, 2021, at his home.

He was born Nov. 29, 1970, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Richard Schrad and the late Dorothy Meyers Schrad.

Survivors include his wife, Anita Boyd Schrad; children, Brittany, Kenan, Brandon, Noah and Leah; sister, Deb Jacobsen and husband, Bob; brothers, Douglas Schrad and wife, Kristine, and Daniel Schrad; and mother-in-law, Linda Boyd.

Services were held Oct. 2 at Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Barbara Ann Moore Edwards

MOORESVILLE – Barbara Ann Moore Edwards, 89, died Sept. 28, 2021.

She was born Oct. 14, 1931, in North Wilkesboro to the late William and Minnie Shue Moore. 

She was treasurer and president of the Iredell County Unit of the N.C. Association of Educational Office Personnel. 

Survivors include her husband, Billy Edwards; children, Deborah Deaton and husband, Shawn, Pamela Barger, Randy Flores and husband, JR, and Scott Eller; brother, Billy M. Moore; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 4 at Triplett United Methodist Church.

Bettie Ann Frazier Johnson

MOORESVILLE – Bettie Ann Frazier Johnson, 82, died Sept. 27, 2021.

She was born Aug. 23, 1939, to the late Pearl and Agnes Frazier.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Hayes Johnson; a son, Jerry Lee Johnson; a sister, Patsy Frazier Stockton; and brothers, Jimmy Frazier, Wilbert Frazier and Robert Frazier.

She worked as a CNA at Brian Center (now Accordius Health).

Survivors include her daughters, Hazel Sherrill and husband, Timothy, of Mooresville, Martha Funderburk and husband, Desi, and Nina Renea Johnson of Mooresville; brothers, David Frazier, Freddie Frazier and Barney Frazier; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 3 at W.H. Bryant, A.E. Grier and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Glenwood Memorial Park.

Beverly McSweeney Divis

MOORESVILLE – Beverly McSweeney Divis, 85, died Sept. 25, 2021, at her home.

She was born Jan. 8, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late John and Irene Krasowski McSweeney. 

She also was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Divis Jr.; and brother, “Chuck” McSweeney.

Survivors include her children, Jim Divis and wife, Victoria, Tom Divis, John Divis and wife, Karen, and Kelly Lilley and husband, Steve; sisters, Elaine Peterchuck, and Joan Holan and husband, Richard; brother, “Jack” McSweeney and wife, Cathy; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Vickie Lynn Griffith Houston

MOORESVILLE – Vickie Lynn Griffith Houston, 74, died Sept. 24, 2021, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 21, 1946, in Iredell County to the late William Spurgeon Griffith Jr. and Sara Pope Griffith Long.

She was owner/operator of Houston and Associates of Lake Norman. 

She also was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Tilton Houston; and daughter, Gina Deree Houston.

Survivors include her son, Shane Houston and fiancée, Robin, of Mooresville; sisters, Sharon Griffith and Pattie L. Sigmon and husband, David; and two granddaughters.

Services were held Sept. 28 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with burial in Glenwood Memorial Park.

Jennie Dishner Chatari 

MOORESVILLE – Jennie Dishner Chatari, 85, died Sept. 22, 2021.

She was born Jan. 22, 1936, to the late Will and Donnie Dell (Crook) Dishner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Chatari; brothers, Glenn Dishner and Douglas Dishner; and sisters, Nila Fayne Dishner, Mary Lou Dishner, Hazel (Dishner) Burlew, Rena (Dishner) DeBaker and Sandra Kay Dishner.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Chatari and partner, Bryant, of Sherrills Ford; son, Gary Chatari and wife, Lisa; brothers, Carl Dishner and Michael Dishner; sisters, Norma (Dishner) Bear and husband, Wayne, Cennea (Dishner) Tipton and Janet (Dishner) Hill and husband, David; and two grandsons.

Burial was held Sept. 26 at Weber City, Va.

Robert James Jablonski

MOORESVILLE – Robert James Jablonski, 74, died Sept. 22, 2021.

He was born May 23, 1947, in Buffalo, N.Y., to the late Florian and Laura Kelm Jablonski.

He retired as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps and worked with TASC Inc.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Rita Lukasik and Marie Ferrucci; and a brother, Floyd Jablonski.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Hunter Jablonski; brother-in-law, Nunzio Ferrucci and wife, Linda; sisters, Laura Castricone and husband, Cesidio, Grace Dettelis and husband, David; brothers, Emil Ferrucci and wife, Lorrine, Thomas Ferrucci and wife, Claire, and Joseph Ferrucci and wife, Kim.

Services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
