Pine Lake Prep wins golf regional; East Lincoln freshman 2nd overall

Pine Lake Prep girls golf won the 1A/2A West regional championship Oct. 19 at the Country Club of Salisbury.

Sophomore Caroline Johnson tied for first with a 2-over 72. Junior Kate Wood was 14th after shooting a 91, junior Lexie Moyer was 16th with a 94, and junior Anna Lally was 21st with a 98.

Christ the King freshman Malerie Lague took third overall with a 5-over 76. Community School of Davidson’s Chloe Mann was 26th.

East Lincoln freshman Kyla Callahan was second overall in the 3A West at Glen Oaks Golf Club in Maiden.

She shot an 8-over 78, while North Lincoln senior Reagann Smith tied for fourth with an 83.

Lake Norman Charter’s Tess Palmer was sixth after shooting an 85. Teammate Georgia Chapman’s 89 tied for 13th.

North Lincoln was the top local team finisher in third. Freshman Adeline Todd tied for ninth with an 87. 

In the 4A West, Mooresville’s Cailynn Winford was the top local finisher with a 5-over 77 to qualify for states.

Also at the Stonebridge Golf Club in Monroe, Hopewell junior Annika Kullstam qualified by finishing 19th with a 79, and Hough’s Riley Tanner tied for 21st shooting an 81.

The state championships take place Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 25 and 26.
