Meet East Lincoln’s new principal DENVER – Tim Woody, recently named principal of East Lincoln High School, 6471 N.C. 73, will be available Sunday, Aug. 21, to meet with parents, students and the general community. Stop by the school’s media center Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. to get to know him. Catawba Springs wins breakfast grantDENVER – The nutrition program at Catawba Springs Elementary School was recently awarded a grant to help expand and implement the Universal Breakfast program. The school will receive $18,000 from the Share Our Strength and No Kid Hungry organizations, which have partnered to help North Carolina schools improve their nutrition programs. An article in the Aug. 12 edition Denver Weekly listed three other east Lincoln County schools that were awarded grants, and Child Nutrition Director Byron Sackett later learned that Catawba Springs also received the grant. North Lincoln High holds tailgate bashThe sports boosters at North Lincoln High School will hold a Back to School Tailgate Bash on Aug. 26, before the first football game of the season.The event lasts from 4 to 7 p.m. at the school, 2737 Lee Lawing Road, and promises lots of activities, including food, games, a dunking tank and a battle of bands. The band competition features Byronesque, Deception of Light, Beauty within the Beast and Amnezia. The boosters will accept cash donations to support the school’s sports programs.
