Suspect from Huntersville apartment shooting arrested

HUNTERSVILLE – A man was arrested on assault charges after a shooting at Huntersville Commons Apartments Saturday night.

At approximately 8:13 p.m., officers with the Huntersville Police Department responded to a shots-fired call at the Statesville Road complex, a 1/2-mile north of Gilead. On arrival, HPD said officers located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. The suspect was also located at the scene with injuries stemming from an alleged assault that occurred during this incident.

All parties were transported to the hospital, but were later released.

The suspect, 21-year-old Brian Collins, was arrested and charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill and then transported to the Mecklenburg County Jail.
