MOORESVILLE -- The offense carried the day for the Blue Devils in a Week 1 win, but this time around it was the defense leading Mooresville to a 14-13 victory over Reagan Friday night. Playing with its back against the wall for much of the fourth quarter while clinging to a one score lead, the Mooresville defense answered the bell on multiple occasions. Even when Reagan broke through for a touchdown that made it 14-13 with two minutes left, the Blue Devils stoned a goal-line run to prevent the Raiders from taking a one-point lead. A.J. Graham starred for the Mooresville defense, recording two interceptions, including a diving snag in the end zone in the fourth quarter. Running back Eric Heal led the way offensively for the Blue Devils, rushing for 108 yards on 11 carries. Quarterback Brady Norman and running back A.J. Baker each ran for a touchdown to help Mooresville to victory. The Blue Devils (2-0) will be on the road next Friday at West Rowan.
